A report stating that the UFC would be cutting a large segment of their roster this week seems to be accurate, as several have had their profiles removed from UFC.com’s list of actively rostered fighters. As documented by UFCFIGHTERiNFO, that typically signifies a fighter is no longer in the organization.

The latest list of released fighters include TUF runner-up Ramsey Nijem, and TUF winner Amir Sadollah. Here’s the latest updated list of released fighters from the last week:

Penick’s Analysis: None of these stand out as particularly surprising. The UFC is clearing out a lot of fighters who have been inactive or ineffective for one reason or another. Again, while it’s unfortunate that a lot of these guys are losing their spots, it’s necessary for the UFC to clear out a large number to better serve their product. Far too many of these fighters have been little more than placeholders, and it’s lowered what it means to be a “UFC fighter.” These types of cuts are unfortunately something they’ve needed to do for quite some time, and it’s just going to happen in bulk for right now.

  1. Amir Sadollah (TUF 7) wasn’t the only TUF winner on the cut lists above. Eddie Gordon won TUF 19, lost three straight, and was also cut.
