5/19/16: Top Five Quotes of the Week
In our regular Thursday feature, today we list out the most newsworthy, entertaining, or incendiary quotes of the week.
5. Vitor Belfort on UFC 198 loss to “Jacare” Souza: “Saturday was a day that I went to work but didn’t work. Have you ever had that feeling? I learned through my life that we can’t stop learning, and the lesson I take from my fight Saturday is: don’t wait too much for the moment because if it doesn’t come and you don’t go for it, nothing will happen.”
4. Will Brooks on potential UFC move after Bellator release: “I believe that I can go out there and beat anybody in the lightweight division of the UFC and seize that title and be the man on top. I just have that belief in my body and I have that in my bones and I can feel it. I know I can do it. If that opportunity presents itself, I will definitely seize that moment. I will take that opportunity.”
3. Jose Aldo on UFC 200 bout with Frankie Edgar: “I will get there and run through [Edgar]. It doesn’t matter what happens, we will win the fight. After that, we will get [McGregor] even if it’s in the streets.”
2. Ben Rothwell on taking Junior dos Santos bout in April: “I think right after the fights, I need to be locked up and somebody else needs to take my phone and take my wallet, because I get crazy after a fight. It’s when I do crazy interviews, it’s when I’m off the wall, and I think I get high off the wins. I don’t know what it is, but it’s obvious I’m not thinking rationally at the time. It was good for the UFC because they got to fill a main event. It was just a strategically stupid fight.”
1. Jon Jones on if Daniel Cormier could beat him at UFC 200: “No because he consistently fails when he’s up against greatness.”
