Bellator will crown their first Women’s Featherweight Champion this May, as BleacherReport.com reports that Marloes Coenen will take on Julia Budd at Bellator 155.
Coenen, a former Strikeforce Champ, failed in her bid to capture the inaugural Invicta FC Featherweight Title against Cris “Cyborg” Justino, but has won two straight since joining the Bellator roster. She won both of those fights by submission, with the most recent coming last August.
As for Budd, another veteran of Strikeforce, she’s won six straight fights since a loss to Ronda Rousey under that banner. Four of those fights came with Invicta, and she too has picked up consecutive wins under the Bellator banner.
Bellator 155 hits the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho, on May 20, headlined by the Middleweight Title bout between Rafael Carvalho and Melvin Manhoef.
