TOPIC: What was the single key highlight of Brock Lesnar’s MMA career?

FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

Becoming UFC Heavyweight Champion in his fourth fight by beating Randy Couture. Either that or setting the record (at the time) for most PPV buys in UFC history at UFC 100 when he smashed Frank Mir. Either of those are top achievements that one should be incredibly proud of. He wasn’t around all that long, but he made a tremendous impact. He was the biggest draw in UFC history until Conor McGregor. That’s what I’ll remember most about him as a fighter.

The beauty to this answer is in its simplicity. The greatest moment of Brock Lesnar’s career is UFC 100. It was the most hyped up event in UFC history. The bout was between the champion Brock Lesnar and the man who handed him his first loss Frank Mir. Mir, unlike most heavyweights at the time, posed a huge threat to Lesnar on the ground. Lesnar may be a collegiate all America and a WWE champion who is built like a polar bear, but Frank Mir is a Jiujitsu Black Belt. In their first bout Mir submitted Lesnar 90 seconds into the first round. After that, Brock defeated “Captain America” Randy Couture, winning the heavyweight championship and became the baddest dude on the planet. The storyline was there and the stage was set on the company’s most important date. And then, the performance of a lifetime! Brock lesnar scored a huge TKO victory in the second round to retain the UFC Heavyweight Championship. It was at that moment the combat sports world had its unquestioned champion. However, his reign as the world’s best was short lived. He went on to have health problems and a pair of really bad losses before returning to WWE. Of course, recently he has been the subject even more controversy with his appearance at UFC 200. But when it comes to his Greatest Moment, he lived that at UFC 100 against Frank Mir.

JASON AMADI, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

Brock Lesnar beating Frank Mir to unify the UFC World Heavyweight Title at UFC 100 is by far the most memorable moment of his MMA career. No one will forget him pounding Mir into oblivion and frothing at the mouth as he headbutted the fence and roared into a camera already splattered by his saliva. It was his apex as a mixed martial artist and nothing else really comes close.
