Glover Teixeira closed out the undercard for UFC Fight Night 77 on Saturday night with a violent barrage of strikes against Patrick Cummins, forcing a standing TKO in the night’s co-main event.

Teixeira was doing damage early and often in the bout, though Cummins was finding some success with takedowns and some decent combinations of his own. However, Teixeira’s assault took its toll, and Cummins was in bad shape into the second round. Teixeira landed some big punches early on, and kept the attack up against the cage, hurting Cummins badly until referee Herb Dean stepped in.

In other entertaining action on the card, 24-year-old bantamweight Thomas Almeida moved his undefeated record to 21-0 with a sick KO over Anthony Birchak. Almeida’s particular brand of violence was on full display throughout the opening round, and he started picking up the attack late when it was clear he had Birchak hurt. As he backed him up to the cage, he landed a spinning back elbow, then followed with a brutal combination that ended in a sick right hand, sending Birchak tumbling to the ground.

Alex Oliveira scored a nice KO of his own, taking out Piotr Hallman with an excellent right hand in the third round after an even opening ten minutes. Oliveira had a clear edge, but allowed himself to get taken down in the second and lost some time. Still, he turned it up in the third, and scored a nice finish.

The Fox Sports 1 main card from Sao Paulo was rounded out by relatively dull decision wins from Rashid Magomedov and Corey Anderson over Gilbert Burns and Fabio Maldonado, respectively.
