After defeating Anthony Pettis to become the interim Featherweight Champion, Max Holloway isn’t too keen on waiting for a unification bout with Jose Aldo.

Holloway expressed his reluctance to agree to a fight with Aldo based on the Brazilian’s history of pulling out at the last minute. “I don’t want to give up my son’s birthday and Christmas for February 11, and he don’t show up,” Holloway said. “This guy has a knack for not showing up to the fights.”

He also commented on the status of the Featherweight Division and his thoughts regarding former Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor. “Conor’s coach said I’m the best 145-er in the world, and Jose is saying he wants to retire, un-retire, then he gets the belt, and then he wants to go up a weight class,” he said. “I don’t know. Most true fans know the storylines, and most true fans said this should be for the belt. I ain’t over here begging for fights. If (McGregor) wants to fight me, he can come fight me. You’ve got so many guys begging on their knees to fight him. If he wants to fight me, he can come see me. If you want to fight the best, you come fight ‘Blessed’.”

With the victory, Holloway improves to 17-3.

Cervantes Analysis: Holloway did an excellent job last night, defeating a tough competitor in Anthony Pettis. However, his future seems a little up in the air based on the comments he made and the recent turmoil in the division. I get his point in not wanting to wait for a fight with Aldo. There’s also some intrigue in him fighting McGregor as that was his last loss in the Octagon and a lot of people feel that McGregor is still the rightful champion as it seems he was coerced into relinquishing his title. Definitely some interesting fights we can see Holloway in next year.
