Mackenzie Dern vs Amanda Ribas
Both fighters sit at 5 losses. Ribas is coming off of a loss while Dern bounced back with a win in her last fight. Dern seems to always have her same style and has not seemed to deviate from it, will that style be enough? I don’t think so, Amanda Ribas is the better fighter in my opinion; she’s already beaten Dern by unanimous decision in 2019.
The winner gets back on the right path with a big win propelling them forward enough to string a couple more wins together and parlay that into a title opportunity.
Chris Curtis vs Roman Kopylov
Roman Kopylov can really build on a solid win here. He beats Curtis and he can move on to even bigger fish. It’s going to be hard to get past Curtis, he’s a crafty vet with some big wins under his belt.
Curtis can stave off obscurity with a win here but a loss doesn’t look good for him. Curtis is a good fighter; both dangerous and exciting but he needs to be able to consistently string together wins, with a signature win to show he’s ready for the big time.
Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Carlston Harris
Santiago is on a 2 fight win streak and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is his third win in a row.
Although Carlston Harris is also coming off of a loss he is not desperate like Ponzinibbio may very well be. Although Ponzinibbio has knocked off the likes of Gunnar Nelson, Mike Perry and Neil Magnet, all in a row, his recent losses leads me to believe that he’s washed. If he can’t beat Harris then Ponzinibbio’s is decline is as real as his 2-5 record in his last 7 fights.
Final take
The card isn’t boxoffice gold but it should keep us satisfied until the next event. I don’t see a lot of potential matchups coming out of this. However, a win is a win and anyone who does so has reason to be booked in something that moves them along. It’s the fight game, where anything can happen.
