Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier set for UFC 242n Abu Dhabi, on September 7.
It has long been speculated, but it is now official. The UFC announced that lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will face interim champion Dustin Poirier in a unification bout at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi, on September 7.
The fight will mark the return of Nurmagomedov, after his suspension due to the brawl that ensued after Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229 in October 2018.

Speculation of the fight being announced increased when Nurmagomedov’s coach took to social media to indicate that Nurmagomedov was training for the fight against Poirier at UFC 242.

Poirier recently won the interim title when he defeated featherweight champion Max Holloway at UFC 236 in April.
Nurmagomedov is undefeated in MMA, with a 27-0 record. While Poirier boasts a 25-5 (1 nc) record, and is currently on a four-fight winning streak, including wins over Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje, and Anthony Pettis.
