Felice Herrig knew something was off after opponent Justine Kish completed her miraculous escape of a tight rear naked choke. “I smelled something,” she told “The MMA Hour” this afternoon.
What she smelled was the result of another tight squeeze, or lack thereof, as Kish voided her bowels sometime during the near fight-finishing sequence. Kish was open about it and had fun with the unfortunate event after the fight, using the classic “shit happens” in a tweet after the fight last week.
“It was more towards the end when I had her back,” Herrig said, adding that she wasn’t quite sure what happened but she did catch a whiff. Despite the BM, Herrig didn’t let it phase her on her way to picking up the W.
“I think when you’re a fighter, you just have tunnel vision because you have a job to do.”
Hiscoe’s Analysis: There’s not too much to add to this other than it’s an unfortunate reality of cage fighting from time to time. Both women have taken the mishap with good humor and, hopefully, this doesn’t follow Kish around for the rest of her career.
