Cris Cyborg asks for release from UFC?

Cris Cyborg, perhaps the best female fighter in the world, is frustrated, and she wants the UFC to do something about it. The former Invicta Featherweight Champion tweeted out Friday night that she wants the UFC to either book her or let her go. She stated that her manager has reached out to matchmaker Sean Shelby multiple times over the last several weeks, but is yet to receive a response.

Henry’s Analysis: This whole situation is a strange one, because you would think that the UFC would be doing all they could to get her booked, considering the fact that they basically created a division for her. Her drug testing issues are behind her, so at this point I really am curious as to what the holdup is. Hopefully she is booked soon and we can see what she is capable of against the divisions newly crowned champion, Germaine De Randemaine. Now matter whether they have fights in mind for her or not, how can UFC justify not replying to her manager’s inquiries, if that’s indeed the situation?

SATURDAY NOTEBOOK ITEMS…

-Ever since his unexpected departure from the UFC, people have been speculating as to where Mike Goldberg would show up next. Bellator rumors surfaced, Absolute Fighting rumors surfaced, and now you can add Rizin FF to that list. Rumors have surfaced that Goldberg will return to the commentator’s booth, and that the Japanese promotion will be his new home.

-In other Rizin news, it was announced that Frank Shamrock and Mauro Ranallo will be calling fights together again, something that they haven’t done since Strikeforce. This is also notable, as it will be the first event called by Ranallo since news broke of the supposed bullying that he has endured while working with the WWE that led to his apparent departure from WWE. He has removed WWE references on social media, hasn’t been on Smackdown in several weeks, and missed WrestleMania. His treatment by fellow WWE commentator JBL has led to fans chanting at a live event last week for JBL to be fired.

-The Daniel Cormier-Jimi Manuwa trash talk has continued to heat up. The two have been sparring on Twitter recently.
