UFC 205’s loaded line-up took a hit today as Dana White has confirmed an ESPN report that Rashad Evans is off the UFC 205 card. He was scheduled to face Tim Kennedy. Kennedy responded on Twitter: “Just landed in New York. It sounds like my fight with Rashad Evans is off. I do not have official word.”

UFC has it listed as the third of four prelim fights set to air on FS1 before the PPV portion begins.

Evans underwent an MRI on Oct. 19 for an undisclosed issue, and results of that could be related to today’s news.

Kennedy and Evans were both coming off of losses. Kennedy lost to Yoel Romero at UFC 178 and Evans lost to Glover Teixeira at UFC on Fox 19. Neither fighter made our top ten list in our latest MMATorch November Fighter Rankings.

Keller’s Analysis: This would have been a good fight that had the potential to launch one of them back into the top ten with a strong performance, while also being a big setback for the other – especially Evans. Kennedy will now be hoping to land a suitable replacement so he can still be part of Saturday’s historic evening.
