Bellator 154 aired opposite the UFC 198 prelims on Saturday night, with Phil Davis edging past Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal in the main event on Spike from San Jose, Calif.
The decision – which saw judges give the fight to Davis by scores of 29-28, 30-27, and 30-27 – was certainly questionable, as Davis seemed fairly ineffective through the first two rounds of the fight with kicks while Lawal scored more offense with his punches. Regardless, the decision went in his favor, and he seems set to face Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Liam McGeary when McGeary is ready to return to action.
In other results from the Spike event, Saad Awad took out Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos in the first round, defending leg lock attempts before finishing Santos just 4:31 into the first round. Two other first round finishes hit the main card, as Adam Piccolotti submitted replacement opponent Ray Wood with a standing rear naked choke, while Andre Fialho took out Rick Reger by TKO. Additionally, the main card saw Josh San Diego defeat Jeremiah Labiano by decision.
Main card results are below:
