UFC heads to Sioux Falls for the first time on July 13 for Fox Sports 1 event

The UFC will run four events in seven days this July, as a report from South Dakota’s Argus Leader publication, with confirmation from the UFC themselves, revealed on Saturday that the UFC will head to Sioux Falls on July 13.

That date comes just four days after UFC 200 in Las Vegas, which is the final of three events in three days in the UFC’s home city that week. Taking place as part of their annual International Fight Week in Las Vegas, UFC Fight Night 90 comes to UFC Fight Pass on July 7, with The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale coming to Fox Sports 1 on July 8.

This July 13 event will serve as UFC Fight Night 91, and will air live on Fox Sports 1. It’s the latest first for the UFC, and brings South Dakota their first event from the world’s leading MMA organization just a few years after its first regulatory body was put into place.

Penick’s Analysis: They did this last year after two Vegas events, with a Wednesday card airing on FS1 the week after, but it’s hard to have confidence in them putting together much of consequence on this card given what they’ll need to bring to Las Vegas for three separate events that previous weekend. This may be a bottom-of-the-barrel offering from the UFC for their first event in South Dakota, but it will still probably bring a number of bigger fights than fans have had a chance to see in the state.
