Paddy Holohan vs. Willie Gates reportedly targeted for UFC Fight Night 87 in The Netherlands

A flyweight fight between Paddy Holohan and Willie Gates is being targeted for UFC Fight Night 87 in Rotterdam on May 8, according to a report from MMAFighting.com.

For Ireland’s Holohan, the bout is his first since a submission loss to Louis Smolka in front of a home country crowd at UFC Fight Night 76 last October. That bout wound up as the main event for the Dublin card after an injury to Joseph Duffy took him out of the scheduled headliner, and Holohan had a two fight winning streak snapped with the loss.

The 29-year-old Gates is coming back off a 2015 stoppage loss of his own, having been taken out in the third round by Dustin Ortiz last August. Gates has been stopped in two of three UFC appearances, sandwiching a first round finish over Darrell Montague.

UFC Fight Night 87 hits Fox Sports 1, and the organization’s first ever trip to The Netherlands will be headlined by the heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski.
