Daniel Cormier had to pull out of his UFC 197 bout with Jon Jones due to injury, opening the door to Ovince St. Preux in an Interim Title fight against Jones on April 23.

On Monday, Cormier offered his services to St. Preux, saying he would fly him in and have him work with their team at The American Kickboxing Academy. That led to the expected response from Jones on social media, throwing Cormier’s past comments back at him in the process.

Penick’s Analysis: Well, it’s not a good look for Cormier, and only gives ammunition to Jones and any other Cormier doubters. He’s the one who lost to Jones, and he’s the one who needs that rematch. To try to actively have that fight not come together by trying to get Jones beat makes it seem like he wants nothing to do with the fight again. It doesn’t support the idea that he’s the legitimate champion, and it’s an unfortunate move for him to make at this point.
