“This is a do or die fight for me. I have to go out there and dominate him. This is my career on the line. This is everything. This is bigger than my Anderson Silva fights. I’m already starting my camp. I did a six-week camp last time and now I’m doing a 12-week camp this time. I’m just going to be very prepared.”

Penick’s Analysis: This is absolutely a must-win fight for Weidman. A second decisive loss in a row to Rockhold would put him in a spot that so many other fighters have found themselves in, as it will effectively remove him from the title picture for years. He’s in many ways lucky to get the opportunity right away when so many fighters simply don’t get their chance at a rematch to begin with, but if he loses again, he won’t be getting a third fight with Rockhold unless he goes on a massive run. That’s possible, but we’ve seen a ton of fighters struggle to get back to that spot only to have it elude them.
