Alistair Overeem’s fight with Andrei Arlovski is now official as the main event of UFC Fight Night Rotterdam on May 8 in the Netherlands.
The UFC confirmed the previously reported bout on Sunday, revealing that tickets will go on sale for their first ever event in the Netherlands on March 24.
“I feel honored to be able to bring the UFC to The Netherlands,” Overeem said in a press release. “Holland has grown a lot of champions and striking is our forte. Andrei is a former UFC champion, an accomplished fighter and my teammate at Jacksons MMA in Albuquerque. I’m looking forward to the fight, he has excellent skills all-round and it promises to be an exciting fight.”
In addition to that main event, several other fights are now official for the event as well. The card as it currently stands is below:
- Alistair Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski
- Stefan Struve vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva
- Dominic Waters vs. Peter Sobotta
- Chris Wade vs. Rashid Magomedov
- Reza Madadi vs. Yan Cabral
- Garreth McLellan vs. Magnus Cedenblad
