Ronda Rousey’s got another new film project in the works, and it may be a significant one for her.
According to a report from Deadline, Rousey will star alongside Tina Fey in Do Nothing Bitches, a comedy film inspired by Rousey’s now-infamous summer monologue during an episode of UFC Embedded.
Per the report, the film was pitched by writer Paula Pell, who penned Fey’s most recent film Sisters. Universal Studios has acquired the film for production. The film is allegedly to be “a female-empowerment tale dealing with wealthy pampered wives who get a rude awakening at a camp where Rousey plays the no-nonsense instructor.”
Rousey, who lost her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title last November to Holly Holm, has two other projects on the docket for 2016 in Mile 22 and Roadhouse, and will be hosting Saturday Night Live – where Fey once starred and where Pell once served as writer – for the first time later this month.
Penick’s Analysis: This is a major deal for Rousey. Not only is it a starring role alongside one of the more well known names in comedy in Fey, the title itself is something she’s trademarked, so she’s going to get paid off that as well. For as much as her other projects have gotten her started in Hollywood, this one could be a significantly bigger deal.
