Daniel Cormier is ready for Jon Jones to return. With the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion now officially reinstated, the attention will turn to their impending rematch, and Cormier reacted to today’s news in a post on his Facebook page.

Congrats to Jon “Bones” Jones on his reinstatement to the UFC,” Cormier wrote. “For MMA fans this is a good day. A guy that has shown to be one of the greatest fighters of all time is back. As a competitor there could be no other outcome and this is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. Jon has said the right things and his actions are backing his words up. We all hope this is the last time we have to deal with anything like that. And lastly as a fan u get to see see 2 of the best fighters compete against each other. With that being said I can’t wait to compete against him again.”

Cormier and Jones first met in January at UFC 182, with Jones taking the unanimous decision victory to retain the title. He was then stripped of the belt after a hit and run accident he caused in April, and Cormier subsequently captured the vacant belt in a win over Anthony Johnson before defending it earlier this month against Alexander Gustafsson.

Penick’s Analysis: Probably the best response Cormier could have had. It’s absent some of the back and forth and condescension present in some other comments over the last week, with a straight forward “good, let’s move on” tone. It’s time to move forward, they’re going to meet next, and Cormier’s either going to force a rubber match by avenging the January loss, or his time on top will come to an end in a second loss. There’s little in between here.
