Johny Hendricks vs. Tyron Woodley scrapped from UFC 192 as Hendricks hospitalized due to weight cut issues

Johny Hendricks

Johny Hendricks will not be fighting Tyron Woodley on Saturday night, as the former Champion had issues with his weight cut and was forced to drop out on Friday morning.

According to his manager via a report from MMAFighting.com, Hendricks suffered a blockage in his intestine and a kidney stone while cutting weight, and he was rushed to the emergency room and administered an IV.

The fight was planned as the co-main event for Saturday’s pay-per-view event from Houston, and was essentially slated to be a No. 1 contender fight at welterweight.

Penick’s Analysis: This is bad. Bad for the UFC, bad for the fans, bad for Woodley, and absolutely awful for Hendricks. He’s almost missed weight before in a big fight situation, and now this happens when he’s trying to get back to a title fight. That’s a massive setback for that goal, and may keep him out of the running. It sucks for Woodley as well, who now loses his best chance to prove he deserves a title fight.
