Fan files class action lawsuit against Showtime for Mayweather vs. McGregor streaming issues

Zack Bartel is suing Showtime for unlawful trade practices and unjust enrichment. According to Oregon U.S. District Court official documents, the class action lawsuit is alleging Showtime did not secure the necessary bandwidth to accommodate its customers. The lawsuit is seeking actual, statutory and punitive damages, interest, and reimbursement of fees and costs. Each member of the class would be entitled to recover actual damages or $200 statutory damages, whichever is greater.

Showtime Senior VP of Sports Communications, Chris DeBlasio said, full refunds will be issued for any customer who purchased the event directly from Showtime and were unable to receive the telecast.  DeBlasio also said that customers who had issues with the cable or satellite feed should contact their provider for refunds.

Kim’s Analysis: I hate frivolous lawsuits and this lawsuit is nonsense. If you bought the PPV and weren’t able to watch it, it’s unfortunate. But is it lawsuit worthy? Were you seriously harmed that you couldn’t watch TV? C’mon, it’s just ridiculous. If you’re going to sue Showtime for this, you might as well sue Santa Claus for giving you socks instead of a pony.

Francis Ngannou pulled from UFC 215

The UFC has decided that Francis Ngannou will not fight on the UFC 215 card on September 19th in Edmonton, Canada. The UFC had been looking for an opponent to face Ngannou to replace Junior dos Santos. Dos Santos was pulled from UFC 215 after being provisionally suspended for a potential USAD violation.

UFC 215 will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg. The two will fight for the Flyweight Championship. The co-main event features women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes against Valentina Shevchenko.

Snoop goes on Instagram rant

The Rapper and co-host of the Snoopcast on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series posted a strange profanity laced rant after the Mayweather vs McGregor fight. Mr. Dogg was clearly happy celebrating the Mayweather win, while disrespecting Conor McGregor. UFC fighters Al Iaquinta and Matt Brown are already on record expressing their displeasure with the rapper. You can be sure this incident didn’t help.
