“It’s hard for me to be intimidated by a guy who gets his suits at Build-A-Bear. I’m not intimidated … but anywhere, Ireland, where ever he would want to do it at, I’m more than happy to accommodate him… It’s not even about him, more so the winner of him and Nate. He may not even win and my thought is he’s not going to. And Nate, me and him almost got in a fight in Mexico outside of the cage … I was fighting his teammate and he didn’t like that so I confronted him about it. And he didn’t like the way I confronted him. So I’d like to settle that score. Either one of them guys.”
-UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez talks to FoxSports.com about Conor McGregor and wanting to face the UFC 202 main event winner for his first title defense.
Penick’s Analysis: Expect Alvarez to get his wish if Diaz wins, and it’s very much a possibility if McGregor does as well. It’s a new matchup for McGregor, and it’s a very winnable fight for him as well, so if he wants to go after a second belt that would be the time to do it. If the UFC and Jose Aldo push for the Featherweight Title bout instead then Alvarez may have to face someone else, but it’s clear where his head’s at and if he has any say in the matter we’ll be seeing Diaz or McGregor against him perhaps before the year is out.
