Michael Bisping will be making the first defense of his newly won UFC Middleweight Championship on Oct. 8 in his hometown of Manchester, England, at UFC 204. The fight has been officially agreed to for the event, and according to multiple published reports the plan is for the card to conclude after 5AM local time in order to fit into the UFC’s standard U.S. pay-per-view window.
Additionally, a couple of new fights are expected for the event, with Jimi Manuwa vs. Ovince Saint Preux and Stevan Struve vs. Ruslan Magomedov both reported for the event this week.
Bisping-Henderson II is a rematch of their 2009 bout from UFC 100, where Henderson scored one of the great highlights in MMA history. Bisping captured the title in a shocking KO over Luke Rockhold in June at UFC 199, and Henderson got the shot off a KO win over Hector Lombard on that same card.
Saint Preux returns to action after a decision loss to Jon Jones in April, while Manuwa needs a win after a KO loss to “Rumble” Johnson last September. Struve knocked out Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in his last outing, while the 14-1 Magomedov has picked up three straight wins in the UFC into this event.
