I’m going with Ngannou. I just don’t know if JDS will be able to avoid the power of Ngannou for five rounds. I think JDS will bust up Ngannou for a while but all it takes is one big shot from Ngannou to end the fight. I think JDS gets clipped and dropped and Ngannou pounces on him to get the TKO stoppage.

I think Francis Ngannou wins via knockout or he gets knocked out himself. Ngannou is a one trick pony and nothing more. Junior Dos Santos, if he manages to pull off the victory, should win the title and have a decent run. That’s more wishful thinking than anything else though.

This is a tight matchup that is tough to call. After his March win over Derrick Lewis, I was very high on Junior dos Santos and how he probably had another title run in him. Francis Ngannou was similarly impressive just a few weeks earlier in his destruction of Cain Velasquez. What we know is that Ngannou hits hard, and if he connects against Dos Santos, it’s over. Dos Santos is a skilled boxer so if he can avoid the big shots and strike from a distance, he can outpoint Ngannou for a decision. I think any doubts we had about Ngannou’s mettle on the big stage coming off of the Miocic and Lewis fights were erased when he beat Velasquez. Dos Santos is the better all-around fighter, but I can’t see him going 25 minutes without eating one of those Ngannou uppercuts that will put the lights out. Ngannou by first round knockout.
