UFC 200 Results: Jose Aldo defeats Frankie Edgar a second time to capture Interim Featherweight Championship

Jose Aldo had a return to form on Saturday night at UFC 200, besting Frankie Edgar for a second time with identical scorecards to their first fight from February of 2013.

A competitive fight throughout, just as their first fight was, Aldo nevertheless had the better output start to finish throughout the 25-minute matchup. Edgar continually tried to press the pace, but he wasn’t able to get himself in range to land a ton with any consistency. Aldo, meanwhile, seemed to find his range much more often, busting Edgar’s face up with combinations and landing significant knees to the body as well.

In the end, Aldo walked away with scores in his favor of 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47, and immediately yelled out into the crowd at Conor McGregor. Depending on McGregor’s plans after UFC 202 next month, that’s the fight that should come next for the 145 lb. crown. For Edgar, it’s a severely disappointing loss that probably ends his time as a title contender in the UFC.
