Jones says UFC 200 rematch with Cormier not his biggest challenge, out to “get rid of him once and for all”

“I think the performance I’m most happy with is when I beat Rashad Evans. Rashad Evans was a guy who knew me personally, trained with me and I think he was 15-1 when we fought. He had only ever lost to Lyoto Machida. He was a winner.  He knocked out Chuck Liddell. He was just a bad ass. I loved that I made that fight look one-sided, that’s the fight I’m most proud of. That rivalry was almost equal to Daniel Cormier, actually a bit more personal. The beef was more real. Daniel Cormier, our beef is childish… Daniel Cormier, his fight to me was no tougher than the Glover Teixeira fight. First three rounds were competitive and then after that I ran away with the victory… Daniel, he really isn’t my biggest challenge or I don’t think he’ll be my threat anyway. He’s just part of the journey. I’m excited to out there and beat him again. Get rid of him once and for all.”

-Jon Jones talks to FoxSports.com about past rivalries and challenges, and why his UFC 200 opponent Daniel Cormier doesn’t necessarily stack up.

Penick’s Analysis: Nice hard sell for UFC 200, Mr. Jones. This rematch is only part of a “rivalry” because Jones’ out-of-the-cage activities took him out of the picture for a year and allowed Cormier to take a spot on top again. The first fight was competitive at times yet relatively one-sided, and seemed to bring an end to the feud. Cormier lucked out in many ways to make this a necessary fight once again, but it’s understandable to see why Jones would see him as someone simply to get behind him as quickly as he can.
