Anderson Silva’s hoping for a quick turnaround after Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 84 event, as he expects to get past Michael Bisping before fighting on the UFC’s return event in Brazil this May.
Speaking with ESPN Brazil in London, Silva was asked about fighting at UFC 200, but said May’s UFC 198 event was more intriguing for him.
“I would rather fight in Brazil, in Curitiba,” he said (via BloodyElbow.com). “I hope I can fight in Brazil. If everything goes my way and it will. If everyone thinks I should fight in Brazil, I will. Let’s see how this Bisping fight plays out and then we move on to the next stage.”
Penick’s Analysis: If the UFC can get an Anderson Silva fight under the planned Fabricio Werdum-Stipe Miocic and Vitor Belfort-Jacare Souza fights on that May 14 card, that makes for one hell of a top three on pay-per-view. That’s assuming Silva defeats Bisping, which he’ll be expected to do tomorrow, but if they can find a viable opponent to face him in Brazil that’s something they should put together.
