A couple new fights have been added to the UFC’s return trip to Brisbane, Australia, next month, as Justin Scoggins meets Ben Nguyen, while Leslie Smith faces Rin Nakai.
The UFC announced the new additions to the card on Wednesday.
Scoggins turns around real quick after defeating Ray Borg last weekend at UFC Fight Night 82, his second straight win in the flyweight division after a two fight losing streak in 2014. He meets Nguyen, the Vietnamese-American fighting out of Australia who has won both of his UFC bouts to date in the first round. The 27-year-old has won eight straight fights overall into this March 20 event.
Leslie Smith and Rin Nakai both return to the cage for the first time since 2014, with each hoping to get back in the win column. Smith’s November 2014 loss to Jessica Eye came due to a nasty exploded cauliflower ear that forced doctors to stop the bout, and she spent all of 2015 out of action. Nakai suffered her first career loss to Miesha Tate in September of that year, and hasn’t been in the cage since then.
The March 20 event in Brisbane will air live in North America on March 19 on Fox Sports 1 due to the time difference, and will be headlined by the heavyweight bout between Frank Mir and Mark Hunt.
This article corrected on 2/11 as the event is scheduled to air on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S., not UFC Fight Pass.
