UFC on Fox 18 final ratings down slightly from previous three Fox events with average of 2,685,000 viewers

Though last weekend’s UFC on Fox 18 event had a higher overnight rating than the past couple of cards, the end rating for the event is actually lower than those events.

According to a report from Dave Meltzer at MMAFighting.com, Saturday’s event drew a final average viewership of 2,685,000 viewers, down from the between 2,745,000 to 2,780,000 viewers for the last three cards.

Saturday’s event was headlined by Anthony “Rumble” Johnson’s quick minute and a half stoppage over Ryan Bader, and with two other finishes on the main card – including Ben Rothwell’s crazy gogo choke over Josh Barnett – the broadcast ended earlier than some, and didn’t have an over-run to draw further numbers in late. The prelims, airing on Fox Sports 1, drew an average of 702,000 viewers.

Penick’s Analysis: The UFC continues to draw a fairly consistent audience for these events, which in some respects is a positive thing. They’re not growing much at all, even when they toss intriguing title fights on network TV, and they may need to find new ways in which to promote these cards to boost these numbers.
