Edmen Shahbazyan vs Andre Petroski
Petroski can edge you out in a decision, tap you out or knock you out; whichever way you wanna lose, he can make it happen. An all around threat for Shahbazyan. Andre is no slouch but his only losses have come by way of KO/TKO. I don’t really see him beating Edmen since Edmen seems hungry and ready to get a win, start a win streak and keep his career on course.
I don’t personally have much faith in Shahbazyan but a friend of mine once had him high on his list of potential breakout stars. He’s lost a few fights but more importantly he’s lost to opponents who were a step up in competition for him. Edmen is still a young man, able to make a run in the middleweight division.
Alonzo Menifield vs Oumar Sy
Sy has yet to be defeated inside the octagon, Menifield has the ability to change that and the skills to do it in dramatic fashion. Sy is going to have to utilize every tool at his disposal to keep Menifield guessing. Making sure not to give any clean looks or it could all end abruptly.
Menifield needs to get a win here to put together a streak. He’s no bum, be only has a handful of losses but a loss here and he slips even further down the rankings; he can’t afford that. It’s increasingly hard to stay relevant in the UFC and Menifield is flirting with being forgotten as a dangerous fighter.
Michael Chiesa vs Court McGee
May the best man win.
Time for Chiesa to make a move up the rankings, he’s not getting any younger. If he wins here maybe he can get some buzz going and capitalize on it. He needs to come out ready to finish the fight, showing how dominant he can be; put his name in the news.
Court McGee is even older than Chiesa at 40; at this point he’s just happy to keep fighting. He’s fighting for pride, not to be ranked. He fights for the love of the game. This could be a dangerous loss for Chiesa whom hasn’t seemed to make the most of his wins.
Final take
A card so stacked that we had to do a part 2 and there are STILL fights that were left off of this list! I haven’t been this excited for a non PPV in a long time. Invite some friends over, drink responsibly and enjoy what fans of the sport have been ranting and raving about all of these years. I’ll be locked in whether I’m out at the bar or watching at my bar at home.
