Returning former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones took to Twitter on Sunday night to give some thoughts on what happened at UFC 194, and in particular the main event between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
In a series of posts on Twitter reacting to McGregor’s 13-second KO over Aldo, Jones said he thinks the long-reigning now-former champ should be getting a rematch, especially if Ronda Rousey’s getting one herself.
Felt like Chris was outmatched, expecting to see MacGregor vs Aldo 2 https://t.co/hOZZcBS1YS

If Rousey is granted an immediate rematch I would expect the same treatment for Aldo. It only seems right https://t.co/taoqVItasU

Penick’s Analysis: It’s a reasonable take. In Aldo’s case, he was unbeaten in ten years, and got caught by a perfect strike in the first exchange. He certainly wasn’t systematically ripped apart the way Rousey was against Holm, and if she’s getting the big money rematch, Aldo deserves the same treatment. Of course, there are a lot of interesting options for McGregor’s next fight that can sell, whereas Holm’s biggest money is in the Rousey rematch. The star won in this situation, which makes it possible, if not likely and unfair, that Aldo does not get the same consideration.
