Friday’s UFC show was the finale for the “Ultimate Fighter” season subtitled “Heavy Hitters,” but it was UFC’s Saturday effort from Adelaide, Australia that saw more of the heavy hitting action. Junior Dos Santos reclaimed his spot as one of UFC’s most devastating strikers with a second round TKO of Tai Tuivasa. That wasn’t enough to get him a “Performance of the Night” bonus though.
The first performance bonus went to fellow Brazilian Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who put on a similarly impressive performance that was a callback to his glory days. Shogun earned a third round TKO or Tyson Pedro in a fight that saw Shogun take Pedro’s best shots in the first round and then dominate the fight on the ground in the second. The third and final round saw Shogun finish the fight with a knockdown and some hammer fists, securing his $50k bonus in the process.
Earlier on the main card, Sodiq Yussuf made quick work of Suman Mokhtarian. Yussuf won with a standing TKO after a relentless barrage of strikes that Mokhtarian had no answer for. Yussuf also comes away with a $50,000 bonus.

“Fight of the Night” went to a preliminary fight between Kai Kara-France and Elias Garcia. The two flyweights went toe-to-toe for three rounds in a fight that Kara-France largely dominated in taking a unanimous decision win but it was still an entertaining scrap. Much talk has been made of how could UFC consider eliminating the flyweight division after such an entertaining fight, but it’s likely going to take more than one fun prelim fight to save the division. Both Kara-France and Garcia take home $50,000 for their efforts.
