Dana White has been pretty good lately. Ever since UFC was bought out by corporate mega power WME-IMG two years ago, White has (mostly) cooled it with his tirades against enemies, or anyone who dares to criticize him, or his promotion. It seems that last Saturday’s Liddell vs. Ortiz 3 pay-per-view promoted by Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions has inspired White to bring back some of his fiery ways.
During an appearance on the “UFC Unfiltered” podcast this week, White unloaded on the Liddell vs. Ortiz 3 event, and De La Hoya in particular.
“I heard last week, the cokehead, Oscar De La Weirdo, is talking (expletive) that I don’t have any place to tell guys when to retire,” White said (transcribed by MMAJunkie). “First of all, it’s called friendship, you (expletive) cokehead.”
White is, of course, speaking of his friend Chuck Liddell who was knocked out in the first round by Tito Ortiz. Liddell had retired from MMA back in 2010 after much urging from White. UFC gave Liddell what was, at the time, considered to be a “job for life” to ensure Liddell stayed retired and as a thank you for Liddell’s contributions to UFC’s growth.
“I’ve been friends with Chuck Liddell for 20 years, and the reality is that Chuck Liddell retired when he should have retired, eight, nine years ago, however long it was, and Chuck Liddell’s almost 50 years old and has no business fighting any more,” White continued. “And the fact that the state of California even let that fight happen is disgusting – disgusting.”

In fact, White has an idea for De La Hoya that may help him see why White is so upset.
“I hope somebody talks De La Hoya into fighting again. I hope the state of California makes the fight, and I hope he gets knocked out just like Chuck Liddell in the first round. (Expletive) cokehead nutball.”
