A wild week for the UFC just got wilder.

As first reported by Brett Okamotto of ESPN, UFC featherweight champion, and scheduled lightweight challenger Max Holloway has been declared medically unfit to compete at UFC 223.

Holloway was scheduled to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title. Holloway himself was a late replacement when interim champion Tony Ferguson pulled out due to injury on Sunday.

As for the current plans for the UFC 223 main event, MMAJunkie is reporting that the UFC is actively trying to book a fight between Nurmagomdov and lightweight Anthony Pettis. Pettis’ scheduled fight Michael Chiesa was scrapped due to Conor McGregor’s rampage at the UFC 223 media day.
