I’m going to favor Cerrone in this. Yancy is a guy that isn’t afraid to stand up and trade shots with Cerrone, but “Cowboy” has a lot of experience and time in the UFC. And I think Cerrone has more power and cardio than Medeiros. Against Alex Oliveira he was gassed by the second round, of course both men knocked the other one out on their feet but still found some way to keep moving. I just don’t think, though, he could go as long against Cerrone.

I feel that Donald Cerrone’s time has come and gone. Cerrone is a true fighter, a legend in the sport, and willing to fight at a moment’s notice. However, he has failed time and time again to get over the hump and become champion. Yancy Medeiros is going to make it a 4-fight losing streak for the cowboy and send him into retirement…is what I would say if I believed Medeiros could beat Cerrone. Cerrone by unanimous decision is what I’m going with.

I think Yancy Medeiros wins by TKO in the second round. I just don’t know if Donald Cerrone is who he once was, and it’s time for Medeiros to shine. This could either be a really exciting fight or one full of tentative action because each man is going to respect the other’s striking. I think we get the former and the event ends in explosive fashion. I think Medeiros is primed to make a run towards getting a title shot.

Yancy Medeiros has looked fantastic his last few times out so I’m glad to see him get this opportunity, but I am very confident we see a return to form for Donald Cerrone. “Cowboy” may be coming off back-to-back-to-back losses, but it’s against the absolute elite of the division. This fight will certainly tell us a lot about where both fighter’s careers are headed. Donald Cerrone by later round finish in what should be a very, very fun fight.

Donald Cerrone is coming off a career-worst three straight losses. In fact, “Cowboy” has not lost as much as two in a row until his 2017 skid. Medeiros, contrarily, has secured three consecutive stoppage finishes over quality competition. My heart would love nothing more than to see Cerrone get the win and ride off into the Texas sunset with one final win, but my head is telling me that Medeiros wins this fight.

I don’t have a clue about this one. Donald Cerrone is sliding, but his recent losses have all come at welterweight and this fight with Yancy Medeiros is at lightweight. Maybe he can get things back on track, but it’s also possible that Cerrone’s history of fighting frequently has finally caught up with him.
Medeiros has been solid recently and is riding a four-fight win streak, but honestly until he beats someone on Cerrone’s level I’m not sure that I can pick him in a fight like this. Cerrone has shown that he can beat pretty much all but the very best in the world. Perhaps Medeiros has improved more than I realize, and if he can push the pace it’s very possible that he can win. But I think Cerrone will probably get the job done here and win with a late round submission or a decision.
