Johny Hendricks heads to Jackson-Wink
Johny Hendricks seemed unbeatable at one time. He gave Georges St. Pierre a beating, though he did lose the fight, he wasn’t discouraged. He came back stronger and won the vacant title in a fight with Robbie Lawler. He was a bowling ball of pure destruction, his punches were lethal, his wrestling unstoppable…and then suddenly everything changed.
Since winning the belt, Hendricks has a 2-5 record, and has missed weight an alarming three times in two different weight classes. His once feared punching power has seemingly vanished, and his potent wrestling is seemingly an after-thought. He always seems frustrated, out of shape, and disinterested, but still he fights on.
Today we got news that could be considered the first good news pertaining to Johny Hendricks in quite some time. He is packing his bags, and heading to Jackson-Wink with hopes of reviving his once promising career. Jackson-Wink is one of the top camps in the game, and if anybody can get “Big Rigg” up and running again, it will be them.
Cole’s Analysis: Hendricks will return to action against Paulo Borachinha, one of the sports top middleweight prospects, and a heavy hitter. A loss here will here will not be good for Hendricks, and in fact if he wants to be taken seriously at all in 2017 this is a must win fight for him.
Rory McDonald disappointed with Bellator?
Rory McDonald is probably the best fighter that Bellator has ever signed away from the UFC so they better start keeping him happy. McDonald, who will challenge Douglas Lima for the Bellator Welterweight Championship in January, expressed his frustration with his lack of fights. He stated that he hopes to fight at least three times in 2018, which would be a big uptick from the fight a year he has taken in each of the last three years.
Kyle Noke ends his retirement
After losing three fights in a row Kyle Noke announced he is retiring. Now, welterweight fighter Noke has announced he is returning to the sport he retired from ten months ago. Noke posted the news on Twitter:
My last few fights I lost that fire, I was just in there because I didn’t know anything else…now that I’ve had time to rest and heal, time away from the grueling training sessions and constant grind, I miss it now more than ever. I will fight again. I have that (fire) again.
His most recent fight was at UFC Fight Night 101 back in November 2106. It is still unclear which organization the 37 year old will fight under.
