2017 Hopefuls: Anderson Silva vs. GSP, Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz III, Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson.

I would love to see UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor defend against Tony Ferguson. That would be number one, without question. McGregor has done amazing things in the cage and I want to see how Ferguson deals with that. Both guys hit really hard and are ultra tough. It would be a hell of a fight. Other fights I would like to see would be UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley defend against Demian Maia, as I would like to see how Maia tries to deal with Woodley. Would Woodley take him down or would he try to keep it standing? Those are probably the two main fights I would like to see get booked. They would both be very interesting.

The fight I’d most like to see happen in 2017 is Anthony Johnson vs. Jon Jones. It was close to happening two years ago until Jon Jones got in his car accident and was stripped of his title. Despite his issues, Jones is one of the best to ever step foot inside the cage and he’s beaten every challenge he’s faced and made it look easy. Johnson is the type of knockout artist Jones hasn’t come across yet and it would be fascinating to see if Jones can survive an Anthony Johnson onslaught and how he would try and neutralize his power.
A nice runner-up fight I’d like to see would be a healthy Cain Velasquez challenging Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Title. Velasquez looked like he had returned to form when he obliterated Travis Browne at UFC 200, but he’s had his usual injury setbacks since. If he can get healthy, Velasquez vs. Miocic could make for an epic heavyweight matchup.
