Loma Lookboonmee vs. Angela Hill (Strawweight)

Favorite: Hill -200 

Round 1: We’re seeing some boxing in the early going. Loma connects with a quick 1-2, but Hill is unphased. Loma connects with a solid low kick, Hill will have to find a way to slow those down as Loma is an extremely experienced Thai fighter. Hill catches a kick to the midsection, and trips Loma up, but only briefly. Hill scores with a takedown and passes to side control as the round ends. (10-9 Hill)

Round 2: Hill is threatening with a takedown early in the round, but Loma shakes her. They clinch and Loma trips Hill to the mat. Hill is threatening with an armbar, but Loma appears to be okay. Hill transitions to the triangle, she has a minute and a half to finish it. Loma escapes the choke and falls into Hill’s full guard. (10-9 Hill)

Round 3: Hill clinches and puts Loma against the fence, she’s controlling from there. Loma lands a 1-2 as they separate, she follows that up with a straight right hand. Hill changes levels, but Loma is staying on her feet. Hill is landing short punches as the fight comes to a close. (10-9 Hill) (30-27 Hill)

(8)Kai Kara France vs. Tyson Nam 

Favorite: France -200 

Round 1:  Both fighters are landing early, we’re seeing lots of close exchanges. Nam connects with a left hook and then secures a body lock. Nam briefly scores with a takedown, but France pops right back to his feet. Nam connects with a left hand, France returns one of his own. Nam attempts a head kick in the final seconds of the round. France was leading the dance for most of the round, but Nam came on strong towards the end. (10-9 France)

Round 2: Nam lands with a jab, he appears to be the aggressor here in round two. Nam lands to the body and then scores with a right straight. France is using lots of movement, he is landing, but Nam’s forward movement is the story of the fight I think. France connects with an elbow, and then a right hand! (10-9 France)

Round 3: France is continuing to land punches in bunches, while Nam is landing the bigger shots. 1-2 lands for France, Nam returns a high kick. France scores with a quick takedown, but Nam is back on his feet. Nam scores with a takedown of his own, but can’t keep France down. Nam scores with another takedown, but France is right back on his feet again. (10-9 France) (30-27 France)

Result: Kai Kara France def. Tyson Nam via Unanimous Decision

Kenan Song def. Callum Potter via KO (Punches) Round 1, 2:20 

Potter was the aggressor early, he scored with a nice takedown, but Song quickly reversed it. From there, Song attacked on the feet and knocked Potter out with a flurry of punches, knocking him out finally with a hook. 

Emil Meek vs. Jake Matthews (Welterweight)

Favorite: Matthews -220

Round 1: Meek scores early with a takedown, but Matthews sweeps and he is now working from top half guard. Meek scrambles back to his feet, but Matthews catches him with a right hook! Meek is down, Matthews is controlling from top position as the round comes to a close. (10-9 Matthews)

Round 2: Matthews scores with a takedown, and quickly transitions to the back. Matthews has both hooks set, and he is threatening with a rear-naked choke. Meek scrambles to his feet and attempts a few wild strikes, but Matthews takes him right back down. Matthews is working to take the back, but only twenty seconds remain in the round. (10-9 Matthews)

Round 3: Meek opens with a low kick as he stalks Matthews around the cage. Matthews connects with a couple of straight punches as he looks to create some distance. Matthews shoots for a takedown, but Meek sprawls and gets back to his feet. Meek connects with a quick 1-2 as Matthews moves in for a takedown. Matthews still got ahold of the leg, but Meek landed several elbows to avoid it. Left hook connects for Meek as the fighters clinch. Meek sprints across the cage and leaps at Matthews in the final moments of the fight. (10-9 Meek) (29-28 Matthews)

Result: Jake Matthews def. Emil Meek via Unanimous Decision 

Jalin Turner vs. Joshua Culibao (Lightweight)

Favorite: Turner -205

Round 1: Culibao connects with a right hand early on. He shoots, but Turner sprawls. Culibao rolls to his back, Turner lands a few punches but then lets him up. Turner connects with a combination to the head and body and then puts his opponent against the fence. Turner takes his opponent down, and attempts a guillotine! Culibao escapes though and scrambles back to his feet just before the round ends. (10-9 Turner)

Round 2: After a brief striking exchange, Turner shoots and takes Culibao down. He has a guillotine but gives it up to land strikes instead. Turner is landing punches from his opponents back, but Culibao is doing an okay job of at least staying in the fight. The ref has stopped the fight, a great win for Turner.

Zubaira Tukhugov vs. Kevin Aguilar (Featherweight)

Favorite: Tukhuhov -120 

Round 1: We’re seeing a few skirmishes to start the fight. Tukhugov is lunging in with hooks, and they’re keeping Aguilar off balance. Tukhugov connects with a left hook and Aguilar is down! Aguilar pops right back to his feet, but he is compromised! Tukhugov connects with another left hand and then a flurry of punches! Aguilar is down, and Tukhugov is attacking! Aguilar is doing his best to avoid these punches but Tukhugov is starting to break through his guard! This fight is over! 

Result: Zubaira Tukhugov def. Kevin Aguilar via TKO (Punches) Round 1, 3:21 

UFC Auckland Main Card

Brad Riddell vs. Magomed Mustafaev (Lightweight)

Favorite: Mustafaev -145

Round 1: Riddell scores early with what I believe was a right hand! Mustafaev recovers though secures a body lock and puts Riddell against the fence. Mustafaev is controlling, he has an underhook, but Riddell drags his head down and reverses the position. They separate from the fence in the final seconds of the round. (10-9 Mustafaev)

Round 2: Mustafaev connects with a front kick to start the round, and then follows it up with a quick right hand. Mustafaev lands a kick to the midsection, but Riddell returns a shot to the midsection and then a right hand to the head. Mustafaev secures a body lock, Riddell puts himself against the fence, and from there he is fighting a takedown. (10-9 Mustafaev)

Round 3: I had to deal with some buffering through a bit of this round, but most of the fight was a scramble against the fence. Mustafaev appeared to go down at one point, but it was hard to say if he slipped or if he actually dropped from a punch. Riddell did appear to win the round from what I could see, especially the later moments. (10-9 Riddell) (29-28 Mustafaev)

Ben Sosoli vs. Rogerio De Lima (Heavyweight)

Favorite: De Lima -200

Round 1: Both fighters are taking big swings. Short shot lands for Sosoli, he’s chasing De Lima. De Lima connects with a left hook and then a right! Sosoli is down, De Lima hits him a few more times on the ground and this fight is over.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Yan Xiaonan (Strawweight)

Favorite: Yan -245

Round 1: Yan is landing the jab early on. Kowalkiewicz spins for a back fist, but can’t find it. They clinch, and Yan takes Kowalkiewicz down to the mat. Kowalkiewicz recovers guard and climbs back to her feet. They clinch and Yan throws Kowalkiewicz to the mat with a hip toss. Yan climbs back to her feet, she’s allowing Kowalkiewicz to stand, but the Polish fighter is throwing kicks from her back instead. (10-9 Yan)

Round 2: Karolina received a poke to the eye to get things started, so we see a brief break in the action. Yan is connecting with the jab, and Karolina is tending to stay a bit stationary. Yan backs her against the fence with a flurry, but Karolina manages to reverse the position against the fence. Karolina is looking for a takedown, but Yan is defending. Yan still has her back against the fence, she’s looking to lock up an arm of her opponent, but Karolina is pressuring. Yan secures a body lock and takes Karolina down in the final seconds of the round. (10-9 Yan) 

Round 3: Yan catches a very slow kick from Karolina early in the round, she returns a 1-2 combination. Karolina looks a bit awkward tonight… Yan connects with a right hand and then a sidekick to the face. She takes Karolina down, but Karolina attacks the leg for a heel-hook. Yan escapes the foot lock and she is now working from top half guard, she is landing short punches with just under a minute left in the round. Karolina sweeps but at this point it’s too little too late. (10-9 Yan) (30-27 Yan)

Result: Yan Xiaonan def. Karolina Kowalkiewicz via Unanimous Decision

Jimmy Crute vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk (Light-heavyweight)

Favorite: Oleksiejczuk -125 

Round 1: Crute takes Oleksiejczuk down to start the fight, he’s transitioning but Oleks is working back to his feet. Crute connects with a left hand, and then a right. He follows it up with a high kick, but Oleks blocks it. Crute scores with another takedown, he moves into the mount and he is threatening with a head and arm choke. Oleks is defending so far, but Crute is now looking to isolate an arm! Crute slaps on a kimura and Oleksiejczuk taps! Great win for Crute! 

Result: Jimmy Crute def. Michal Oleksiejczuk via Submission (Kimura) Round 1, 3:29

(7) Dan Hooker vs. (6) Paul Felder (Lightweight) 

Favorite: Hooker -155

Round 1: Hooker connects with a right hand over the top, but Felder wears it well. Felder is stalking, but so far he hasn’t landed much of note. Hooker lands a quick jab as he attempts to work his way away from the fence. Felder lands a nice left hook, but Hooker returns a jab and straight right hand. Hooker throws a low kick but Felder checks it, causing Hooker to fall to the mat. Felder connects with a crisp 1-2 just as the round ends! (10-9 Hooker)

Round 2: Felder is having a difficult time landing early in round two, Hooker is using his range very well. Felder lands an inside low kick, but Hooker returns a right hand. Felder lunges in with a hook, but Hooker ducks and attempts to take his back while standing. Hooker has one hook set, but Felder is aware of the situation and defending. They separate, and Hooker connects with a left hook. Felder just can’t get much going, outside of low kicks. He is having a very difficult time with distance here tonight. They clinch, and Felder lands a hook to the body. Felder lands a sharp elbow!  (10-9 Hooker)

Round 3: Felder opens up with a jab, from there they clinch and exchange short punches. Felder connects with a lead uppercut, he’s starting to put some stuff together. Felder has great low kicks, nothing is loose. Hooker continues to land straights at range, but Hooker is doing a better job of closing distance. Felder connects with a grazing right hook, and then a low kick. (10-10 Draw)

Round 4: Felder opens with an inside low kick, and then another. Felder follows it up with a jab. Felder connects with a left hook and then a straight right! Hooker changes levels for a takedown, but Felder hits the fence to avoid it. Felder lands an elbow over the top as they separate. Hooker secures a body lock and puts Felder back against the fence, he’s working to take the back while standing. Felder escapes the position and we are back in the center. Felder connects with a right hook and then a jab. Hooker attempts a takedown, but Felder lands an inside elbow and secures an underhook. (10-9 Felder)

Round 5: Felder is aggressive early in the round, he’s throwing multiple combinations with ill intent. Felder connects with a stiff right hand, and then another. Hooker shoots for a takedown, but Felder hits the fence to avoid the takedown. Hooker connects with several jabs and straight punches. Both fighters land jabs, Felder appears to be the fresher fighter with just over one minute left in the round. Hooker scores with a takedown! Felder recovers guard, they scramble and we’re back on the feet. (10-9 Felder) (DRAW) I know it won’t be a draw, Hooker will probably win the third. But it’s close…

Result: Dan Hooker def. Paul Felder via Split Decision 

Side Note: Paul Felder announced post-fight that he might be stepping away from the cage. Nothing is official, but he said he would discuss things with his team.
