Who wins Saturday’s Jose Aldo vs. Alexander Volkanovski fight?

Sean Covington, Columnist – Covington’s Corner

This one is hard to call but I’m going with Alexander Volkanovski. Volkanovski hasn’t lost in a long time and he’s only done it once. Jose is on his way out in my opinion. Jose will be the biggest test for Volkanovski but if Alexander can pull off this victory I expect him to be a great challenger in the division.

Frank Hyden, Columnist – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I think Aldo win by decision. Volkanovski is good, but I’m staying with Aldo because I’ve only seen a few people beat him and they’re among the best ever at what they do. If he’s not fighting Max Holloway or Conor McGregor, Aldo has looked almost unstoppable. Until I see him decline against everyone else, I’ll go with Aldo over most fighters.

Patrick Shaheen, Host – MMA Scope Podcast

Jose Aldo is the greatest 145er of all time. People don’t like him because he wasn’t the most interesting champ and he lost to two guys who are very popular. If Volkanovski can win this fight he absolutely deserves a title shot, and I like his odds. He’s so aggressive in everything he does and that’s the formula to beat Aldo.

I think we’re going to learn here what a win over Chad Mendes means in 2019. My guess is that it doesn’t mean much and Jose Aldo is going to walk through Alexander Volkanovski in his home country. Aldo has looked like a man with something to prove in his last two fights and I expect that to continue. Aldo is a big step up in competition for Volkanovski so I’m calling for a first-round KO for Aldo in what may be a rare feel-good moment for the Brazilian fans on this card.
