Restraining order filed against BJ Penn

Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn has had a restraining order filed against him by his former partner and mother of his children, Shealen Uaiwa, according to a report from MMAJunkie.

A written statement made by Uaiwa obtained by MMAJunkie details threatening behavior by Penn towards her and her family.

“I went to pick up my daughters and BJ came up to the car threatening my mother that he will kick her dumb c–t ass out of her house,” Uaiwa wrote in the Oct. 7 2018 statement. She also added that Penn “said to me ‘because you’re not a man you think you can’t get knocked the f— out.'”

The statement also alleges that Penn threatened to kill her whole family.

Another alarming allegation from Oct. 5, 2018, says that their oldest daughter Aeva told Uaiwa that she’d “rather jump off our balcony at our home than hang out with her father.”

Uaiwa alleges she has endured verbal, and physical abuse over the course of their 10-year relationship. She also alleges sexual abuse including Penn trying to get her to have sex with other men and verbal abuse if she would not perform sexual acts.

Uaiwa claims Penn’s name and reputation prevented her from reporting these incidents earlier. She finishes the statement by saying “there have been so many incidents throughout our relationship. These are just more recent incidents.”

No charges have been filed against Penn at this time.

Penn is currently scheduled to fight Clay Guida at UFC 237 on May 11 in Rio de Janeiro. UFC has yet to comment publicly on the allegations or the status of Penn’s fight.
