Jon Jones has a fight with Alexander Gustafsson coming up in a little more than a week, but that doesn’t mean he can’t launch some Twitter bombs towards two-time opponent Daniel Cormier while he gets ready. Cormier had appeared on Jim Rome’s podcast recently and contested what Jones called a “pinch of salt” of steroids in his system following the UFC 214 drug test that Jones was flagged for.
“I’m sure he’s not the only guy I’ve ever fought who’s on steroids,” Cormier said (transcribed by MMAFighting). “I’ve always said that. I’ve been very open about that. But when you say a pinch of salt — why was the pinch of salt there? Why was it there with no explanation of why it got there? That’s my question.”
Jones had an answer to that question, and he chose to let Cormier and everyone know on Twitter Wednesday night. Jones accused Cormier of “whining” and accused him of vacating his light heavyweight championship when Jones was announced to return.

Cormier is technically still light heavyweight champion but will be stripped upon the commencement of the Jones-Gustafsson fight next week, with the winner being declared the new champion. Jones continued with a challenge for Cormier while showing some respect to UFC’s only other fighter to hold two titles simultaneously.

“Fight me one more time and prove you’re actually the champ champ. I’ll donate $100,000 to a charity in San Diego if you accept. Conor McGregor was an actual double Champ, the whole world knows your claim is a freaking joke. You’re more than welcome to be my first title defense.”

Cormier has yet to respond, but he will likely be watching UFC 232 very closely next weekend.
