Who do you think will win between Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231?
Sean Covington, Columnist – Covington’s Corner
Valentina Shevchenko is going to make Joanna Jedrzejczyk look really bad on her way to becoming champion. JJ has some how surgically implanted her head permanently up her ass and thought she was unbeatable. Never look past your opponent. JJ has a case of Ronda Rousey syndrome and wrote a cheque she couldn’t cash against Thug Rose. Valentina doesn’t look past the opposition, she stares right at it. I wanna see Valentina with a more killer instinct, I wanna see her finish Joanna Jedrzejczyk. I think Valentina will pick JJ apart for a smooth victory.

I can’t go against Jedrzejczyk but it’s going to be a battle. She’s going to have to be at the peak of her abilities to get the job done here. Shevchenko is so tough and dangerous. Those words accurately describe Jedrzejczyk as well so this should be a great fight. I think this will be the best fight of the night, and Jedrzejczyk wins the decision.

Shevchenko wins by decision. Joanna has always been a strawweight, and she’ll be dwarfed by Shevchenko. Joanna wins on the feet, but Shevchenko has already beat her on the feet in Muay Thai three times. Shevchenko gets it done probably by the 4th.

In talking it through with Robert Vallejos on this week’s MMA Talk for Pro Wrestling Fans podcast, I felt that Joanna Jedrzejczyk would be able to neutralize the weight difference and win the fight by keeping the fight standing and picking Valentina Shevchenko apart from a distance. I still feel this way and that Joanna will eek out a decision. I do hope that this fight will be as fun as it sounds on paper. I’m also hoping that this gets the women’s flyweight division properly up and running.
