Barely a few hours removed from his dominant victory over Andrei Arlovski, Francis Ngannou is already thinking about his next opponent.

Ngannou mentioned a few high profile fights he’d like to be involved in, but none more so than former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. “I talked about Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem, but I just talked about them because I think that Cain Velasquez is injured,” Ngannou said. “If he’s in the game, I’m ready for him. He’s the next one I’d like to fight.”

Prior to the bout, Dana White considered Ngannou one of the best heavyweights in the world and said he’s seriously considering promoting Ngannou more aggressively. “It’s one of those tough decisions when you have a guy that’s this talented and this freakish,” White said. “The guy’s a monster, and I’m really high on him. I think he’s the future. I don’t know if we’ve ever had a heavyweight champion who is as physically imposing and scary as this guy is”.

Ngannou improved to 10-1 with a decisive win last night on Fox broadcast TV, which means it was in front of one of UFC’s larger audiences. He is currently ranked 10th in our MMATorch UFC Heavyweight Division rankings.

Cervantes Analysis: Ngannou definitely turned in a dominant performance, but he should fight a more serious contender before the UFC thrusts him into the spotlight. Arlovski came into this bout off of three consecutive losses and was ranked 7th, so a fight against any of the people he expressed interest in at the top of the division would be the best course of action.
