MMATorch Daily Top Five 8/19: Where is my money going at UFC 202? Here’s my top five UFC 202 bets

By Christopher King, MMATorch contributor

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson

I have called this the Top Five UFC 202 Bets rather than the Top Five UFC 202 Betting Tips as I am far from a betting expert. But this is a chance for readers to see where I have put my money and why. I have put a total of five bets on, I kept them simple and have not done any complicated bets, mainly because I am not too sure how to! I have bet £50 in total at £10 a time. With that in mind, let’s see where I have decided to throw it away!

Bet 1: Lorenz Larkin to win against Neil Magny

Neil Magny has been on an incredible tear with wins against notable foes such as former UFC golden boy Erik Silva, Kelvin Gastelum and Hector Lombard. However the UFC is doing him no favors with this bout as the Fight Pass headliner. Larkin is a formidable boxer, is highly durable and should be able to power through Magny.

£10 on wins £ 21

Bet 2: Takeya Mizugaki to win by decision and Tim Means to win against Sabah Homasi.

Sabah Homasi is a late notice newcomer to the UFC. He has a record of 11 wins and 5 losses. I doubt he holds too much trouble for Means, but he is a powerful puncher. The world is waiting for Cody Garbrandt to demolish Takeya Mizugaki and become the new posterboy. Again the UFC is not giving him an easy ride. The 32 year old Mizugaki is a savvy veteran, and although most people remember him for getting destroyed by Cruz, I am not yet sold on Garbrandt.

£10 on for both to be correct wins £84

Bet 3: Rick Story to defeat Donald Cerrone by Unanimous Decision.

I do think this card, is relatively evenly matched from top to bottom, with the exception of the Tim Means fight. This one could go either way, and while Cerrone has been looking great at 170 lbs. he will have his hands full with Rick Story. An extremely solid fighter, he has halted the upwards trajectory of many an elite fighter including Gunnar Nelson, Johnny Hendricks, and Tarec Saffedine. His pressure and strong wrestling game will not give Cerrone the space he needs to implement his excellent striking.

£10 on wins £32.50

Bet 4: Anthony Johnson to win by TKO or KO

The heaviest hitter in MMA will need to be at his best if he wants to get by Glover Teixeira. However, if he wants another crack at the belt and Daniel Cormier and a potential fight against Jon Jones in the future, he needs to win emphatically. I find it hard to pick against, and even though it could be a snooze fest as some big men fights can be, I can’t bet against Rumble here.

£10 on wins £17.50

Bet 5: Conor McGregor to win in Round 2 against Nate Diaz.

For the record I am on Team Diaz, but he is beatable. Conor will need to get almost everything perfect, but ever since he lost, he has been a man possessed. He has spent a fortune on training, developed his cardio, and as long as he stays of the mat with Diaz I see him busting him up on the feet. Diaz will not be easy to get out, especially in Round 2 as he can take a hell of a lot of punishment and has no quit in him. But McGregor to return the favour of a second round win and have everyone salivating of Diaz vs. McGregor 3 is my pick

£10 on wins £80
