With the WWE allowing Brock Lesnar to compete at UFC 200 next month, they’re reportedly looking to get a little quid pro quo from the UFC for a couple of their events over the next year.
According to a report from Forbes.com, the WWE is hoping to get some UFC faces at their “Summerslam” event in August, as well as an actual match from Ronda Rousey on next year’s Wrestlemania 33 event.
Rousey made an appearance last year at Wrestlemania 31, joining Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to confront Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, leading to the belief that she might try to compete on this year’s Wrestlemania event. That did not come to pass, but they now allegedly want her in an actual match.
Penick’s Analysis: Paige VanZant has been a name thrown out as someone the WWE wants on the Summerslam event when (or if) Lesnar returns to them. A loss to Mark Hunt could potentially keep him off of that event, but they’re hoping obviously for him to pull off the win to promote him as even more of a monster badass than they’ve been presenting him as on their programs. A Rousey appearance at Wrestlemania 33 could be workable, but she still hasn’t even returned to fight in the UFC. Who knows where her mind is at on that end.
