WSOF Champ Justin Gaethje’s Colorado suspension lifted after conversation with commission

Justin Gaethje’s suspension by the Colorado State Boxing Commission has been lifted, according to a report from MMAWeekly.com.

The World Series of Fighting Lightweight Champion was given an indefinite suspension for “unsportsmanlike conduct” after back flipping off the cage following his first round win over Brian Foster at WSOF 29. The suspension was lifted after Gaethje had a conversation with the commission.

According to CSBC director Josef Mason, the suspension was issued in order to get across to Gaethje the “concern by the commission for the safety of all around the cageside area.”

The undefeated competitor is now cleared to return as soon as he’s ready, which could be soon given his desire to fight at least twice more in 2016.

Penick’s Analysis: At least there wasn’t anything further done here. It would have been entirely unwarranted, and they’ve gotten their point across to Gaethje and anyone else fighting in Colorado. Time to move on.
