UFC 196 CONTESTS: Prediction And Betting Game Results

By Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

UFC 196 will be remember for mostly two things: Nate Diaz handing Conor McGregor his first defeat since joining the UFC, and Miesha Tate finally realising her dream of being the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion by submitting Holly Holm in the fifth round to take the title.

It was a night for the underdogs; seven of the twelve bouts all went in favour of the underdog in a night full of surprises and just desserts. No, no, no…. Before all you McGregor fans hunt me down, I’m not talking about Conor McGregor being dethroned, but Erick Silva’s cheap shot on Nordine Taleb which moments later resulted in Silva being knocked out.

Lets see how you all go on!

CONFIDENCE GAME RESULTS

Neal Hollic (32 points) beats Lisa Smith (29 points) to become the new MMATorch Confidence Picks Champion.

Lisa’s long reign as champion has finally come to an end at the hands of Neal Hollic, as his 3 points placed on a Nate Diaz victory was just enough for him to take the title. It wasn’t a good night for either player, as each only predicted 4/12 fights correctly.

Next up for Neal will be be Sean Simpson who scored a rather impressive (52 points) considering the night was full of upsets. No-one could get close to Sean’s score; the nearest players were Ben S and Charles Mickael who both scored 42 points, only enough to take home second place in the pool. It was a bad night all around for most players, and one to forget. Roll on UFC 197.

Well done Neal and Sean.

Here are the results of the Confidence Picks pool:

52- Sean Simpson
42- Charles Mickael
42- Ben S
40- Mac Kinder
38- Tommy Strong
36- Mark Sacchetti
34- David Lindahn
34- Jaymon1002
33- Anthony Sinnott
32- Neal Hollic
32- Brian Foe
32- Scott Pipher
32- John Lewish
32- Kevin Seng
31- Alex Potapoff
30- Malcolm Piper
29- Lisa Smith
29- Joel Wielenga
28- Ben Heather
23- Sam Martin
23- Simon Kerry
23- David Little
21- Richard Race
18- Eugene Kim

Note: Should either champion, or challenger fail to submit picks for UFC 197 “Cormier vs. Jones II” Charles Mikael & Ben S would step up as a challengers and so on. Everyone else will be fighting for the No 1 contender slot on the night, and the right to face off against either Neal or Sean at UFC 198.

BETTING GAME RESULTS

Neal Hollic ($1493.19) beats Richard Race ($176.92) to retain his MMATorch Betting Title.

Neal Hollic: $1493.19

$500 on Latifi for $750

$100 on Saggo for $147.62

$200 Parlay on Latifi, Anderson and Saggo for $595.57

Richard Race: $176.92

$100 on Nunes for $176.92

Despite only predicting 4/12 fights correctly, somehow Neal Hollic managed to return two single bets, and his $200 parlay bet to suit, whilst Richard was only able to return one single bet placed on Nunes, which wasn’t enough to challenge the champion. Better luck next time Richard.

Next up for Neal will be David Lindahn, who returned an astonishing $12,201.90. Not only does this mean he’s top the betting pool by a massive margin, it also sets a new record for an amount won in one game by any one player, take a bow David!!
