Dominick Cruz says post-fight dig at Kenny Florian due to Florian picking against him at UFC Fight Night 81

After re-capturing the UFC Bantamweight Championship from T.J. Dillashaw on Sunday night, Dominick Cruz took a dig at fellow Fox Sports analyst Kenny Florian.

Florian came under fire this week for plagiarism in his preview of the Cruz-Dillashaw bout, and Cruz took a shot in his post-fight interview by yelling out, “Kenny Florian, quit copy and pasting, man!”

At the post-fight press conference, Cruz claimed it was meant as a light-hearted poke after Florian picked Dillashaw to win the fight.

“That’s friendly fire. I like Kenny, you know,” Cruz said (transcribed by BloodyElbow.com). “He didn’t pick me in the fight. He gave me really no chance in this fight, so it’s just a little poke.

“Nothing big. He’s got great hair.”

Penick’s Analysis: It seemed like slightly more than that, but according to Brian Stann, himself a fellow analyst and friend of Cruz, said that the new Bantamweight Champ felt upset with himself for saying it when he got up to the Fox desk after the fight. Regardless, it came off as a bit of a low blow and a surprising dig from Cruz, whether he meant it that way or not, but if there were more to it he’s not letting on.
