After a staph infection took him out of next week’s UFC Fight Night 81 event in Boston, featherweight Dennis Bermudez may have his next fight set.

According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Bermudez is now expected to meet Tatsuya Kawajiri in a highly intriguing matchup at UFC Fight Night 82 in Pittsburgh, Penn., next month.

The 29-year-old Bermudez posted a seven fight winning streak in the UFC from 2012-2014, but is in need of a desperate win after consecutive losses to Ricardo Lamas and Jeremy Stephens. He’ll try to do so against one of the sport’s longest tenured competitors in Kawajiri.

Kawajiri, 37, has fought 45 times over a nearly 16 year career, scoring 35 wins in that time. That record includes three wins in four fights since joining the UFC two years ago, with him most recently defeating Jason Knight at the Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale.

UFC Fight Night 82 hits the Consol Energy Center on Sunday, Feb. 21, and airs live on Fox Sports 1. The card will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Tim Means.
