Michael Bisping jokingly tells Anderson Silva to “leave the viagra out” of UFC Fight Night 83 matchup

The UFC dumped a major fight announcement on Christmas Eve this week, giving Michael Bisping an opponent change from Gegard Mousasi to Anderson Silva at UFC Fight Night 83 in London. It didn’t take long from there for Bisping to fire off an opening salvo.

In a quick shot on Twitter, Bisping took aim at Silva’s comical explanation this fall for his failed drug tests into UFC 183.

Bisping has wanted to fight Silva for much of his UFC career, as Silva held the middleweight division’s championship for the vast majority of the time Bisping’s been in the organization. That title fight eluded him year after year, but he’ll finally get the matchup itself in a five-round main event in his home country.

Penick’s Analysis: Bisping-Silva’s an entirely sensible fight, and no one could blame the Brit for taking cheap verbal shots. He more than anyone has a right to hold ill will towards the PED issue in the sport, and those who continue to fail tests, so in facing yet another opponent off a failed drug test, it’s no surprise he’d have something to say. Expect it to continue over the next few couple of months as well.
